Press for Chieftain Productions:

New Orleans Rising is a unique documentary on PBS WYES-New Orleans. It tracks five New Orleans recovery stories through the first two Carnival seasons past the storm. Broad in scope and intimate in execution at the same time, the film is gently paced but provides its viewers with real insider insight into the city’s comeback challenges and motivations.”

“On the surface, New Orleans Rising is about the physical recovery of New Orleans. But on a deeper, more thought provoking level, it’s the larger story of New Orleans cultural importance and uniqueness that emerges as the driving force behind its resurrection. The intimate and overwhelming struggles of the film’s characters highlight the value they attach to New Orleans culture and to what lengths they will go to fight to preserve their way of life.”

Gearing Up focuses on four teams participating in the “FIRST Robotics” International Competition, and was directed by John King. The teams include: Miss Daisy, seasoned players from Ambler, PA; RoboDoves, a small, all-girl rookie team from Baltimore, MD; Rambotics, a team of teenaged youth incarcerated at the Ridge View correctional facility in Watkins, CO; and Ratchet Rockers, suburban students from Wentzville, MO.

“This film perfectly sums up what we are trying to accomplish and explains what we are trying to do all over the country. It’s not just a game for these kids or their parents, it’s a life changing experience.  It also reaches out to the community about awareness of kids with special needs.  It truly touches the entire community.  Turn up the volume and enjoy.”
